Intuitas is run by Elena Sánchez Orta and Laura Millán Villalón, conference interpreters based in Madrid with more than 450 assignments under our belts. Here’s a bit more about us:
Elena is a conference interpreter, translator, language consultant and project manager. She has been working in the language services sector since 2013, has undertaken various different roles and collaborated with clients ranging from international organisations linked to the United Nations and the European Union, to multinational companies and civil society organisations.
After completing a double degree in Translation and Interpreting and Humanities at the Pablo de Olavide University in Spain, she specialised in interpreting with a Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting at the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She has spent time living in a total of five different countries, enabling her to not only polish her language skills, but also gain in-depth cultural understanding. She also holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature: Literary and Cultural Studies from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, specialising in gender and interculturality. Her working languages are Spanish, English and French.
Laura is a conference interpreter and translator and is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). Her career began as a graduate in Translation and Interpreting at the Pablo de Olavide University, where, during her Erasmus year at the International University SDI Munich, she discovered her passion for conference interpreting.
Since completing the European Master’s Degree in Conference Interpreting at the University of La Laguna, Spain, she has continued to train and thrive as an interpreter and translator. She has worked for international organisations such as the World Tourism Organisation, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the OECD, as well as national organisations such as the Spanish Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation and the Ministry of Equality, as well as for companies and civil society organisations. Her working languages are Spanish, English and German.
For five years, we have worked together on more than a hundred events on a wide range of topics: clinical psychology, trade unions, civil protection, gender and diversity, crime prevention, forestry and even lifts. We also work with a wide network of partners with extensive experience and varied areas of expertise.
We work in Madrid as well as the rest of Spain and internationally, with companies, non-governmental and civil society organisations, public authorities (local, regional and national), associations and individuals.
Above all, we are responsive. We accompany our clients from start to finish in all their multilingual projects and we adapt to the specific nature of each assignment in order to find the solution that best suits their needs.
All of our interpreting and translation services are underpinned by a series of principles and values that we have developed over the course of our training and professional careers.
Our primary aim is to offer a quality service, prioritising terminological accuracy, consistency with the original message and cultural sensitivity. For this reason, we only collaborate with our network of talented, versatile professionals who were trained at the world’s leading translation and interpreting schools and who share a wealth of experience, specialised training that is endorsed at European level, and full commitment to each and every project.
Our work is governed by the professional standards and code of ethics of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC), which upholds the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, integrity and transparency. These fundamental principles are the foundation of our work.
Our ultimate goal is to offer a service that is satisfactory for our clients and for us. To guarantee the success of our projects, the relationship that we build with our clients is structured around communication, involvement and adaptability:
As language professionals, we know the importance of honest and open communication. We strive to ensure that every interaction with our clients is as smooth as possible and that they know what to expect at all times.
We spend a lot of time getting to know our clients, understanding their needs, offering guidance and support and answering their questions. We do everything we can to become a part of their team and to be there when they need us, enjoying a truly symbiotic relationship.
Our versatility means we can provide a wide range of comprehensive solutions that are tailored to each client (large or small), project (short- or long-term) and event (online or face-to-face). Whatever the context, format or needs, we will offer you a customised service and treat your project as if it were our own.
We are firmly committed to improving society and our planet, in particular in the following areas:
As a result of our training and experience working with civil society organisations, we promote inclusion and bring a gender perspective to everything we do.
We seek to limit the environmental footprint of our work by using net-zero emission modes of transport wherever possible and by limiting the production of waste and plastics.
We ensure that the environments we work in are accessible spaces and that people with disabilities can participate as equals.
But that’s enough about us. We want to know more about you.
